Wethered J. Boyd Knights of Columbus Council No. 326 is a Catholic Fraternal Society with its World Headquarters located in New Haven, Connecticut. The Council was originally chartered on April 24,1898 as National Council with Brother Alfred M. Sevrs serving as the first Grand Knight. On October 7, 1912, the Council’s name was changed to Unity Council. The membership operated out of a Bronx facility on Webster Avenue and Fordham Road. The purchase of a Webster Avenue facility was completed in 1915 and served as home through 1923. In 1923, under the guidance of Wethered J. Boyd, a successful funeral director and businessman, the property at 2605 Grand Concourse also in the Bronx, was purchased through the Fordham Knights of Columbus Home Association. Brother Boyd served Unity Council in many different capacities, including eighteen years in the position of Grand Knight. Brother Boyd was an active member of the Joseph F. Lamb 4th Degree Assembly. Throughout his life, Brother Boyd had a significant impact on social, spiritual, athletic, educational, and civic-cultural affairs in the Fordham section of the Bronx, NY. Upon the death of Brother Boyd in 1929, the membership voted to change the name of the Council to Wethered J. Boyd Knights of Columbus Council No. 326 as a befitting honor to the legacy of a man who gave so much of his time, spirit, and energy in the cause of helping others. Brother Boyd's devotion to the Columbian Principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism set a standard for all Council members and are still very prevalent in our Council's Columbian activities to the present day. The Council continuously operated from our Grand Concourse location until 1985, when that location was sold. Boyd Council has relocated to a number of venues in Yonkers since that time, including McLean Avenue, Lake Avenue, and in 2016 to our current location--the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1666 on Yonkers Avenue. Both the officers and the membership of the VFW have welcomed us warmly at this location. Our organizations share many of the same values and objectives and we look forward to cultivating this relationship for many years to come.
At Boyd Council, we believe that religion is not just a set of beliefs, but a way of life. Our community is committed to living out our faith in practical ways, through acts of service, social justice work, care for the environment, and scholastic aptitude. We believe that by working together, we can make a positive difference in the world and help set our youth off on the right track.
Presently we are offering 3 scholarships a year to relatives of members in good standing. Contact us at the email below if you would like to inquire.
